Your address book. It is not a social network: there is neither a request to accept nor any reciprocity, and the person you add is not told about it.

Reading a line

• The username, which leads to the player's card.
• Their clan, also clickable.
• Their language and their country.
• Their last login.
• And what you need to remove them from the list.

The logins column is the one that serves: it says at a glance who is still playing. A friends list gets cleaned out from time to time — dormant accounts do it no service.

What the list is really for

Two very concrete things.

Writing faster. In the new message window, a drop-down list offers your friends one by one: no more typing the username without a mistake. See Write a message.

Spotting them in the chat. In the list of connected players, each can be marked as friend, neutral or ignored. See Chats.

Who to put in it

The people you write to often: the trainer of your horses, the jockey who rides them, the breeder you take your matings from, the active members of your clan, the manager whose competitions you follow.

A short list is more useful than a long one, since its only interest is finding a username at a glance.

Adding

The New button asks for an exact username: see Add a friend. The same addition is offered on each player's card, which is the most natural way — you add somebody at the moment you have just met them.
