Chats
The chat: rooms for talking live. It is the liveliest part of the game, and the part that least resembles the rest — nothing here is a list to filter.
The menu permanently displays the number of players connected to the chat. If it shows zero, nobody is there; there is no point going in to check.
Joining and leaving
The connection happens by itself when you arrive on the page. The Disconnect button takes you out of it — and you can come back by Join the chat.
Disconnect and Leave are not the same thing: Leave only quits the current room and brings you back to the list of rooms, leaving you connected.
The rooms
The list gives, for each room, its name, its access, the number of people present and its topic. The most populated rooms are at the top — which is the right order: one goes where there are people.
Four kinds of access:
| Access | Who gets in |
|---|---|
| Permanent | everybody. These are the game's rooms: they always exist and can be neither closed nor deleted. |
| Everybody | everybody, but the room is a player's. |
| For my clan | the members of its creator's clan, and they alone. |
| On invitation | only those who have been given a right. The others do not see the room at all. |
A player banned from a room no longer sees it appear in the list.
The drop-down menu at the top takes up the rooms where there are people, and marks with a star those where something has been said since you last passed through. That is how one follows two conversations at once.
Creating your room
From the list, the Create a room button. Four settings: a name (twenty characters), an access among the three possible ones — For my clan is offered only if you have a clan —, a topic saying what is talked about there, and a set of terms and conditions.
You are its owner, and you can then change it by Parameters, Close it — which makes everybody leave — or Delete it definitively.
A room's rights
The Rights button lists the people present and those to whom a right has already been granted. The owner chooses for each one:
- Allowed: they get in. That is what has to be given to invite somebody into an On invitation room.
- Banned: they no longer get in and no longer see the room.
- Owner: they have the same powers as you, including that of banning you. To be given only to somebody you trust.
Talking
The field at the bottom accepts 200 characters. Enter sends, Shift + Enter starts a new line.
The smileys are typed at the keyboard and replaced by images on display: type :) and it is a smile that appears.
The smileys
Certain runs of characters turn into an image at the moment of sending. Nothing to look for in a menu: one types them.
| To type | Gives | To type | Gives |
|---|---|---|---|
:) | smile | :@ | angry |
:D | broad smile | :S | worried |
:( | sad | :| | speechless |
;) | wink | :? | thoughtful |
:P | tongue out | :# | asleep |
:O | astonished | :* | kiss |
B) or (H) | dark glasses | (A) | angel |
3:) | devil | (clap) | applause |
The letters work in capitals as in lower case. And since the transformation happens on sending, a smiley typed by mistake cannot be taken back: read over before sending.
The four commands
A message beginning with a slash is a command.
/p nickname your message— whisper: the message is seen by the two of you only. If the nickname contains a space, put it between square brackets:/p [Jean Valjean] good evening. An unknown nickname is pointed out to you, and nothing is sent./url address— turns the address into a clickable link./aleat— draws a random number between 0 and 100, and announces it to the whole room./aleat 1 6draws between 1 and 6: enough to play dice./g your message— shout: the message is highlighted. It is a privilege of the room's owner; for the others, the text goes out normally, without the formatting.
The connected
The Connected button opens the list of everybody who is in the chat, with the room each one is in — and those who are in yours are brought forward. Each nickname leads to their card, and four actions go with it.
- Friend, Neutral, Ignored: your personal classing of that person. Ignored is the useful setting — the messages of somebody you ignore are no longer displayed at your end, without its showing and without bothering anybody else. It is the answer to a tiresome player, and it is simpler than a banning.
- Whisper: prepares a
/ptowards that person, you have only to write. - Private room: creates in one click a room on invitation where you are both owners. The quickest way of getting away to discuss a sale or a contract.
Your options
The Options button sets two things particular to you: the colour of your writing, chosen from a palette or entered in hexadecimal, and the sounds, to be cut if you are working alongside.
What does not stay
The chat is live: the conversations are kept only a few days, and cannot be read again. Everything that has to leave a trace — an agreement, a price, an appointment — is confirmed through My messages or on the Forums.
