Use a bonus

The window that assigns a race accessory to one of your entries. It opens from the My bonuses page of your account, by clicking Use on a bonus.

What a race accessory is

Everything added to a horse on race day to improve it for that one occasion: blinkers, earplugs, racing unshod. The game does not ask you which one — it is a single object representing them all.

Its effect is precise: it brings, in the one race you choose, an extra helping of speed biorhythm. In other words, your horse turns up in better form than it would have been that day. It is not a power bonus, it is a form bonus, and its size varies.

The three conditions

  • You must be the horse's jockey — not merely its owner.
  • The horse must be entered in a coming race.
  • And that race must accept accessories: its manager decides that when creating it. Not all of them do.

The list therefore only offers you the horses meeting all three conditions. If it is empty, it is one of the three that is missing — most often the last.

Reading the list

For each horse: its description, its genetics and its biorhythm, its next race, and the Use button.

The biorhythm is the column to look at, and it is the whole reasoning of this window: the bonus is added to the speed biorhythm, and that one is capped. Placed on a horse already at the peak of its form, it is partly lost; placed on a horse in a trough, it makes up part of the shortfall. So it is on a horse in average form, entered in a race that counts, that it gives the most.

How you get them

By riding. A jockey receives one accessory a day, awarded for their first run of the day in a regulated race. Two of your horses in the same race give only one.

It is a reward for diligence: a player who races every day builds up accessories, one who races once a week has almost none.

Mind the deadline

A bonus carries a deadline for use, visible in My bonuses. After that date it is worth nothing, and nothing will remind you of it. It is better to place one on an average race than to let it expire.

The assignment is final: once the bonus has been placed on a race, it is not taken back.
