Change of username

Changing username. The window begins by trying to talk you out of it, and the warning should be taken seriously: the players who know you under one name will no longer recognise you.

In a game played over years, where deals are done privately, where a trainer or a jockey is recommended, a username is a capital. Changing it amounts to starting again from a blank page as far as reputation goes.

The cost rises each time

That is what discourages repeated changes. The price is 100,000 sulkies for the first change, then 100,000 more than the sum of everything you have already paid — and it is capped at 1,000,000.

ChangeCost
the first100,000
the second200,000
the third400,000
the fourth800,000
the following ones1,000,000

The window announces the exact amount before you confirm, and refuses the operation if your balance does not cover it. The count is kept per world: it is the accounting of the world you are on that serves as the memory.

The rules on the name

The same as at registration: twenty characters at most, and the username is brought back to lower case. A username already taken is refused.

What the change carries with it

Your new username is passed on everywhere the old one was written — on all three worlds, in the messages, in the forums, in the payments. There is nothing to do on your side, and nothing is left trailing behind.

Your password does not change, and you will from now on log in with the new username.

One last point: changing username is forbidden in co-management. The card that leads to it does not even appear — an account's identity is not delegated. See co-management.
