Discussion
A forum discussion's window: the message that opened it, the replies, and the means of adding one.
How it reads
At the top, the first message, presented as a card with its author's nickname, their date and their avatar. Underneath, the reply field. Then the run of replies already posted, in chronological order — the oldest first, as one reads a discussion.
The favorite
The Add button puts the discussion in your favorites; it becomes Remove afterwards. It is the only place from which it is done, and it is what feeds My favorites.
The useful habit: as soon as you post somewhere and expect a reply, put the discussion in your favorites. You will find it again without looking for it.
Replying
The reply field does not always appear, and there are three reasons for that.
- The forum does not allow you to reply, for instance because it is another clan's forum. The window says so.
- The discussion is locked: This discussion accepts no new replies. A moderator has closed it, either because it went off the rails or because it no longer has any point.
- You are barred from communicating by the moderation.
Remember also the non-subscribers' quota: one discussion opened and ten replies per 24 hours across all the public forums. See Discussions.
The reply is plain text. No formatting, and that is just as well: a forum reads better without.
What the moderators see in addition
A moderator of the forum — and a clan's owner on their clan's forums — has two extra buttons, Change the discussion and Delete, and a selector on the replies that allows several to be deleted at once.
The change gives access to four settings that explain what one sees in the lists:
- Locked: no further reply is accepted. The discussion stays readable, and a padlock is displayed on its card.
- Priority: the discussion is pinned at the head of the forum, whatever sort the reader has chosen. That is what serves for a set of terms or an announcement.
- Put in bold letters: for a message that has to be seen.
- Display Html editor: a rich text editor, with formatting and images. It is the only place in the game where HTML is typed in, and that is why it is reserved for moderators.
Those deletions are final: a deleted discussion takes all its replies with it, and nothing brings it back.
The rest of the page
A forum's discussions, its moderators and its terms are elsewhere: see Discussions and Forum.
