Archived message
A message you have archived. The card is that of a message received, with nothing less: header, text, active links, history of the exchange — see Message received.
What changes
Only the filing destinations, in the Other menu: from the archives, the message can go back to Received, to Sent or to the Trash, or be definitively deleted.
What archiving does, and what it does not do
Archiving tidies: the message leaves your inbox, which stays readable. That is its whole point, and it is a real one when you receive a lot.
Archiving does not keep. That is the misunderstanding to clear up: the term for deletion is counted from the date of the message, not from the day you archived it. A player's message lives six months, whether it sleeps in your archives or in your box; an automatic message, one month.
In other words, the archives are not a safe. What has to last longer gets copied elsewhere — your Private Notepad does not get erased.
And remember that filing a message counts as reading it: archiving an unread message marks it read, and takes it off your counter. See My messages.
