The players' small advertisements. It is the only place in the game where one addresses everybody at once.
An advertisement has two lives: its title goes round in the site's advertising banner, and its complete text stays consultable on this page.
Reading a line
- The title, which opens the advertisement in full: see Read an advertisement.
- Seen: the number of times the title has been displayed in the banner, out of the 10,000 an advertisement carries.
- Read: the number of times somebody has opened it for real.
- The author, whose nickname leads to their card — they are the one to reply to, by internal message.
- Edit and Delete, for your own advertisements.
The ratio between Seen and Read is the only measure of effectiveness the author has, and it is instructive: a vague title is displayed ten thousand times and opened ten. The title does everything.
The filters
The state — Being broadcast or Finished — which cannot be removed and which arrives set on the advertisements in progress, and the language.
Remember to look at the Finished advertisements from time to time: an advertisement stops being broadcast when its displays are used up, not when it stops being current. A search for a jockey three days old is still valid.
Placing an advertisement
The New button. It is reserved for subscribers and it costs 10,000 sulkies: see Add an advertisement.
What it is for
For reaching players you do not know. An internal message requires knowing who to write to; a forum is read by those who frequent it. The advertisement, for its part, is displayed in front of everybody.
The uses that work: recruiting for your clan, looking for a jockey or a trainer, pointing out an interesting sale or mating, announcing a competition. And since the broadcast is limited to 10,000 displays or 48 hours, the advertisement had better be ready to be read — an explicit title, a text that says what to do next.
