Coming from version 6
You already know Sulkyland. This page does not teach you the game again: it tells you what has changed, and how to find your bearings in three minutes.
The game itself has not moved
Same account, same password. Your horses, your sulkies, your contracts, your clan, your medals and your history are exactly where you left them, on the same worlds. Nothing has been reset, nothing has been converted.
The rules have not changed either: races, training, breeding, auctions and bets work as before. What is new is the presentation.
What will not follow you
Four things from version 6 have not been carried over:
- the blogs;
- SulkyPlus, of which only the advertisements remain — you will find them in the Communicate menu. Selling codes has not been carried over;
- the little “pass my assessments” game;
- sponsorship: the invitation email, the banner for your own site and the My sponsored players page are gone, and with them the 400 sulkies for each day a sponsored player logged in.
Some good news in exchange, on that last point: the 8,000 sulkies of the first login of the day no longer depend on accepting advertising banners. Everybody gets them, on each of the three worlds.
Apart from that, everything you used to do in version 6 is there in version 7.
Getting the version 6 look back: two settings
This is probably the most useful paragraph on this page. Everything happens in My account, and nothing is final — you can change your mind as often as you like.
- Columns displayed → Top-of-page menu and floating cards. The menu becomes a horizontal bar again, the list takes the full width, and cards open as windows you can move around. That is the version 6 layout.
- List presentation → Table with N rows per page. Lists become paginated again, with the page buttons underneath.
As for the colors, there is nothing to change: the graphic style set by default already uses those of version 6. The other styles are there if you feel like trying one.
With those two settings, version 7 looks very much like the one you are leaving. Many players set them on the first day, then change them one by one as they find their feet.
If you keep the default presentation
The screen is divided into three areas: the menu, the list, and the card, which opens beside the list instead of covering it. On a narrow screen they take turns automatically.
The details are in The game interface — the page to read if a screen gives you trouble.
What is new, and would be a shame to miss
This help. The ? button opens a panel at the bottom of the screen which does not cover the page: you read and you act at the same time. It follows the screen you are on and offers the right section straight away. A Search field digs through the whole help by keywords.
Tutorials. They walk with you from screen to screen and move on to the next step by themselves when you reach the right place. Even if you know the game, the one about testing a horse is worth a look: it explains how to read whip points better than any long text.
Your filters are remembered. Each list keeps the filter you had set on it, even after you log out. That is handy, and it is also the first explanation for a list that looks empty or incomplete: read the filter summary before concluding that a horse has disappeared.
Every name leads to its card. A horse, a player, a clan: its name is clickable everywhere it appears, in any list.
The number of alerts appears in the tab title — “Almina (2)”. You see your messages arrive without coming back to the game.
The site installs on a phone like an application, from your browser's menu. There is nothing to download from a store.
Two habits to pick up
Windows no longer close when you click beside them. That was the cause of a good share of the lost entries in version 6. You need the cross or the Cancel button, and if you had started filling something in, the game asks you to confirm.
Your browser's “Back” button works — it closes a card or a window instead of throwing you out of the game.
Version 6 remains available
It keeps running on v6.sulkyland.com, and will stay there as long as some players have not been convinced of the advantages of version 7.
We do encourage you to take the step, though: a few habits to change, and you get everything version 7 brings today — and everything it will bring tomorrow, because it is version 7, from now on, that moves forward.
If in doubt
Basic principles takes the game from the beginning — useful if you are coming back after a long absence. The game interface describes the screens. And the Summary of this help gives access to the whole of it, trade by trade.
