My contracts

Owners offer you rides on their horses: this is where you answer. A counter in the menu signals the pending offers.

The page also lists the horses of which you are already the contracted jockey: it is your duty roster as much as your inbox. The Pending / Accepted filter separates the two.

Judging before saying yes

Each line gives the horse and its description, its genetics, its owner and its last race. The filter takes up all the genetic criteria, age, speciality and sex.

For a jockey, it is resistance that must be looked at first: it is what determines the riding points, and therefore the margin you will have in the race. A fast horse without resistance is ridden to the millimetre; a horse with stamina forgives more.

Answering

On each line, Accept and Refuse. Once the contract is accepted, the first gives way to the word Accepted, and Refuse stays — that is how one withdraws from a commitment one no longer wants.

The actions menu answers on a whole selection, and also sets your jockey's folders on the ticked horses. The detail of each answer is in Accept or refuse a contract.

What a jockey's contract gives you

More power than a trainer's contract, and therefore more duties. As a jockey, you can enter the horse yourself in a race, without waiting for its owner — and the entry fees are debited to the owner, not to you. Come to an understanding with them over what you may decide alone. See The races in the Jockey menu.

After accepting: test

One point to know in advance: accepting a jockey's contract erases the horse's last test. You inherit a blank test card, because the test is the jockey's work and does not get handed on — and you will gain by it the day you leave, since your successor will not have yours.

Your first move is therefore to test the horse to find its effort limit again. It is quick and riskless: see Test a horse. Riding a horse you have not taken the measure of means running at random.

The horse appears besides, straight away, in My races, which gathers everything you have to ride.

From the other side

For the same business seen by the one who recruits, see My contracts in the Owner menu.
