Race's tactic
This window creates or modifies a preparation template — a ready-made tactic, which you will then apply to any race.
Name: twenty characters, and it is all you will read in the drop-down list at the moment of preparing. Describe what the template does rather than numbering it: “2400 thrifty” is worth more than “Tactic 3”.
Length: the distance you are building it for. It does not shut you in — in use, the table will be readjusted to the race's real distance — but it is what gives the division its meaning.
Underneath, the table is that of an ordinary preparation, Line column included. Everything is explained in Prepare a race. The riding points counter tells you what the template will cost in effort: that is, along with the distance, what will make you choose it later.
Here, no horse is involved: so you will not see available points, only the points spent. That is normal — a template is judged on its cost, not on what one particular horse can take.
Managing the collection, and how to keep it useful, are in Jockey — My tactics.
