Racecourse track
The layout of the circuit on which a race is run, with its starting line. This window only shows: there is nothing to set.
You get here by clicking the racetrack's name, on a race line or on a race's card. A (2) after that name indicates that it is the manager's second track.
Why go and look at it
Because the shape of the circuit is not decorative. In a bend, a horse placed far from the rail covers more ground and goes less fast; on a straight, everybody is equal.
Two useful readings, then, before entering or setting a ride:
- Many bends: the low numbers, which start on the rail, are clearly favoured. Better to have a good number, and a tactic that holds the rail.
- Long straights: the number counts for little, and the horse expresses itself more.
Remember that the number is not drawn at random: it depends on the starting order chosen by the manager. See Create a race.
Two points of detail
The drawing is the one that was frozen when the race was created. If the manager redraws his track afterwards, the race keeps the layout shown to you here: what you see really is what will be run.
A race for which no layout was kept is displayed on the game's default track, 3,900 metres long.
To draw your own, see My race track.
