My medallists
The medals you have awarded. This screen appears in the menu only if you have competition manager standing: see the racecourse manager's trade.
What a medal is
It is the only distinction in the game that cannot be bought and is not worked out. A ranking is redone every month, a total of earnings rises and falls, a time is wiped after thirty days — a medal stays. It attaches itself to its winner, is displayed on their card and appears in the general record: see Medals.
That is what makes it, in the players' eyes, the most sought-after reward in the game. And that is what gives weight to your signature: when you award a medal, you stake your credit as an organiser.
Reading a line
- The competition, as you named it. It is also the link that reopens the medal to correct it.
- The date, in month and year only — a medal has no day.
- The colour: gold, silver or bronze medal, or gold, silver or bronze cup. Six distinctions, whose image appears on the winner's card.
- The recipient: their type — horse, player or clan — then their name, clickable through to their card. A good way of checking at a glance that you aimed at the right one.
- Delete.
The most recent appear first.
Awarding
The New button opens the entry form: see Award a medal. The window is designed for working through a podium — gold, silver, bronze — without typing the name of the event again.
Deleting, to be handled with care
Deletion asks for a confirmation, then it is immediate and final. The medal disappears from the winner's record as if it had never existed, and nothing warns the person concerned.
It is therefore not a trivial gesture, even though it costs nothing. If you got the recipient wrong, prefer to correct the medal by clicking the name of the competition: everything there is changeable, including the winner. You will not leave a hole in a record where a player was counting their line.
A good practice
Medals have no rules imposed by the game: you are the one who decides what your competition rewards. So it is as well to announce it, and in a place the players can read over. Every competition manager has, for that, their competition forum, whose content they manage: the conditions of award belong in its rules of use, or in a dedicated message that can be found again.
Two reasons for that. First because a distinction one does not understand is worth nothing; then because a record of medals ends up being consulted long after the event, and the only information accompanying it then is the name you gave the competition. Twenty well-chosen characters are worth more than a “Competition 3”.
The medals awarded by cup finals are allotted automatically by the game to the first three, and do not appear here.
