Award a medal
The entry of a medal: the event, the distinction, the month, and the winner.
The same window serves to correct a medal already awarded — one opens it by clicking the name of the competition in My medallists. The button then says Change instead of Add, and everything is changeable, including the winner.
The competition
Twenty characters, compulsory. And one piece of thoughtfulness that saves time: when the window opens, this field is already filled in with the name of your last medal.
That is done on purpose, so that a podium can be worked through. You award the gold, you come back, the name of the event is there, all you have left to change is the colour and the winner. Three medals in a few seconds.
The drawback of the convenience: if you are starting a new event, remember to erase the name of the previous one. Otherwise your medals will end up filed under a competition that is not the right one.
The colour
Six distinctions, and the image is displayed to the right of the choice so that you see what the winner will see: gold, silver or bronze medal, and gold, silver or bronze cup.
The game imposes nothing as to their use. The habit is to keep the cups for overall events — a championship, a season — and the medals for races. But it is your convention, and it is worth what you announce of it.
The month and the year
The two are chosen separately. The values offered are those of last month, because one almost always awards a medal for an event that has just finished. The years available run from last year to next year.
The medal is recorded on the 1st of the chosen month: it has no day, and it is indeed the month that places it. It is also that month which decides on which page of the record it will appear.
The winner: one searches, then one chooses
Choose the type of recipient first — horse, player or clan —, then type in the search field part of their name, or their code. From two characters on, suggestions appear below: click the one that fits, and it is displayed as the recipient. Another click on another suggestion replaces it; the wastebasket removes it.
It is the same search as that of reserved races. Nothing is recorded as long as no recipient is chosen.
Changing the type of recipient erases the choice: one same code designates an altogether different holder according to whether it is a horse, a player or a clan.
Horses of the same name
A horse's name is unique only within one breeding operation: two breeders can each have their Winner. That is why each horse suggestion displays, under its name, its breeding and its code — enough to choose the right one without hesitating. In case of doubt, the horse's code also appears on the list of starters of your race: see My races.
For a player or a clan the problem does not arise: nicknames and clan names are unique.
