The races
This is the world's catalogue of races, the same one as in the other menus. You open it here to see what is coming up for the horses you train.
The detail of the screen — the columns, the criteria, the quotas, the postponements — is described once and for all in Owner — The races. This page says only what changes for a trainer.
The trainer does not enter horses
Let us say it straight away: a training contract does not give the right to enter. Only the horse's owner and jockey can enter it. If you open the entry window from this screen, it will only offer you the horses of which you are yourself owner or jockey.
It is not an arbitrary restriction: an entry costs the owner sulkies and uses up his quota in the race. It is for him, or for the jockey who represents him on the track, to decide it.
So why come here?
Because training is prepared according to what is coming. A horse intended for 2,700-metre events is not worked like a sprinter, and the Criteria column tells you exactly what the coming races will require: distances, ages, bounds of earnings and score.
It is also here that you will find the argument to give the owner when you reckon a horse is ready for a particular event. The horse's card notepad, visible to the whole team, is the right place to point it out to him.
Your trainer's folders
When you arrive through the Trainer menu, the entry window offers you your trainer's folders to filter the horses — and not those of owner or jockey. Your working labels are therefore to hand as soon as you are also owner or jockey of the horse concerned.
Your work, though, is elsewhere
My trainings is the screen where you make your charges progress, and My methods the one where you set your recipes.
