Purchase
The confirmation of a purchase. It lists the horses retained with their price, displays the total, and waits for your confirmation.
Auctions are set aside
If your selection contained horses at auction, a warning counts them and puts them aside: an auction is not bought. One makes an offer on it, horse by horse, and it is the deadline that decides. See Make an offer.
What is left — fixed-price sales and sales reserved for you — is bought here, immediately and without competition.
The total, and why to read it over
The total price is worked out before your eyes and cannot be changed. It is the only place where you will see the complete bill of a batch purchase: look at it before confirming, above all if the selection comes from a wide filter.
Each horse is checked separately
The purchase is not all or nothing. The game goes over each line again at the moment of paying, and a line that fails does not stop the others. What can make a line fail:
- the horse has been sold in the meantime, or its sale has been withdrawn;
- the price has changed since you opened the list. The game then refuses to pay: it will never debit you an amount you have not seen;
- the sale is reserved for somebody else;
- you do not have the sulkies;
- the horse has gone into retirement — its sale is then cancelled in passing;
- it is your own sale.
At the end, the window presents you with a summary: what has been bought, what failed and why, and the total actually debited. It is that summary that has to be read, not the total announced beforehand.
What you receive exactly
You become at a stroke the owner, trainer and jockey of the horse: the seller's contracts are erased, and you will have a training programme to set, the old one no longer being applied.
And if you buy a pregnant mare, her foals to be born belong to you as well. It is one of the best bargains on the market when one knows how to read genetics.
The seller, for their part, takes the price less 10 % commission, and receives a message announcing the sale. The detail of everything that changes hands is in trading.
