All race list pages (excluding betting) are up and running.
Jockeys can carry out tests and define their strategies.
The race details page is functional. It is still missing the race viewer, as I haven’t yet decided whether to create a ‘simple’ adaptation or a completely new version. The ‘Betting’ section is not yet available.
So, to summarise:
- ‘My Account’ section: options management (including co-management) and bonus usage are still missing.
- Clan section: everything is fine.
- Sulkies and subscriptions section: purchase management is missing.
- Bettor section: everything remains to be done (this is one of the major tasks left, as the betting page is quite complex).
- Owner section: export is missing.
- Trainer, Jockey, Breeder, Manager and Trader sections: everything is fine.
- ‘Communicate’ section: the chat is missing.
- Rankings section: everything is fine.
- Sulkyplus section: everything needs to be done.
- Mini-games section: everything is fine.
There is also the entire ‘Home’ section to complete, and the help section to write.
So overall, things are progressing well; I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and my July target for everything to be up and running still stands, after which the final beta testing phase will begin – that is, finding any remaining bugs.
As a reminder to those who haven’t been following everything, to test version 7, simply go to https://beta.sulkyland.com/ and log in with your usual username and password.
I’d also like to remind you that version 7 will be made available to new players once I feel it’s fully ready for that (I don’t know when that will be yet), but that version 6 will remain available for as long as possible. You’ll be able to play on version 6 or 7 (or both) as you prefer; the same data is used, so it won’t make any difference to you.
I am now embarking on a major review of my code, particularly to incorporate the many suggestions I have already received. A big thank you, as always, to those who are testing it as I go along and sending me their feedback; it is invaluable.
There are currently a lot of visual, usability or logical flaws scattered throughout the code, but as I now have a very clear idea of what it will need to look like in the end, I need to revisit the initial sections I’ve developed to adapt them to the final style I want, which they don’t yet have.
I’m telling you this so you understand the development process. We write the first section of code; it may be good or bad, but we move forward. We write another section, ask ourselves new questions, and get answers that may be better or worse. Hence the importance of testers: they’re the ones who can give their ‘customer’ feedback, thereby letting the developer know whether it’s good, bad, or then better or worse.
So please keep testing it and sending me your suggestions or feedback – it’s always helpful.
